Two NEW Classes starting May 19th!
Two new classes at Hill Country Hot Yoga
We are so pleased to be adding Two New Classes to our schedule. Please join Emily for another 7am Hot 26/2-60 Music class! Additionally, Monika will be leading a 7pm Yin Yoga - 75 every other Monday starting the week of May 19th.
Hot 26/2-60 Music Class Description:
The Hot 26/2-60 is a popular class on Wednesdays from 7-8am, so we are adding another one on Fridays from 7-8am. The class is not recommended for first time clients that are not familiar with the Hot 26/2 sequence. It is a moving meditation set to calming music but there is no verbal instruction, so you must be familiar with the Hot 26/2 sequence to get the most out of this class.
This class is the Original Hot Yoga Class created by Bikram Choudhury shortened to 60 minutes! This class features 26 beginning level yoga postures and 2 breathing exercizes practiced (mostly) two times each in a set sequence designed to heal your body, free your mind and over time transform your life. This proven sequence works! The system uses activation, calm breathing, alignment adjustments then relaxation to bring you back to a state of physical and mental balance.
You work every bone, joint, ligament, tendon and all of your muscles and deliver fresh, nutrient-rich, oxygenated blood to flush toxins out. You will also work all the systems in your body… your internal organs, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, digestive system, nervous systems and the mind/body connection. It's also great for relieving back pain and strengthening core muscles or for those working through injuries. Through repeating the same sequence, you learn how your body responds to the postures, deepening your knowledge of your capabilities and limits both in terms of strength and flexibility. By practicing stillness between postures, you learn to calm your mind and body through deep breathing. We heat the room to 105 degrees with 40-50% humidity as prescribed by both Bikram and the OHYA standards.
This class is excellent for beginners through advanced practitioners as long as clients are familiar with the Hot 26/2 sequence. Benefits of the class are many including improved flexibility, endurance and strength as well as reducing depression and anxiety and improving overall well-being. This class will challenge you, but have fun, it’s sure to make you feel energized, revitalized and refreshed. And since it’s a shortened version, it will also save you time with your busy schedule.
Yin Yoga - 75 Class Description:
Every other Monday starting May 19th, Monika will lead a 75 minute Yin Yoga class. Yin is a great complementary practice for more active (Yang) classes and it is appropriate for all levels of experience and flexibility. It is practiced in a non-heated room.
While initially this style of yoga can seem quite passive, a yin practice can be quite challenging due to the length postures are being held anywhere from 1-6 minutes. The mainly floor-based asanas target the connective tissues (ligaments, tendons and fascia), bypassing the muscles. The muscles stay relaxed throughout the practice of yin yoga by using props like blocks and blankets (provided by HCHY) and bolsters / pillows (please bring your own).
Your mind will calm down while you are focusing on sensations in the body, making slight adjustments continuously finding your own personal edge. Yin Yoga’s gentle long held postures bring a feeling of lightness in the body, a deep release of the connective tissue and increasing flexibility and range of motion.
Although the heat panels will be turned off, class temperature will be warm, around 85-90 degrees (residual heat from the prior class). The warmth assists in building flexibility and improving mobility.
