Starting 10/28/25, Yin Yoga 8-9am Tuesdays every week.

Yin Yoga is a great complementary practice for more active (Yang) classes and it is appropriate for all levels of experience and flexibility. It is practiced in a non-heated room.  The heat panels will be turned off, but the temperature will still be warm due to residual heat from the prior classes (target is 85-90 degrees).  

 

While initially this style of yoga can seem quite passive, a yin practice can be quite challenging due to the length postures are being held anywhere from 1-6 minutes. The mainly floor-based asanas target the connective tissues (ligaments, tendons and fascia), bypassing the muscles. The muscles stay relaxed throughout the practice of yin yoga by using props like blocks and blankets (provided by HCHY) and bolsters / pillows (please bring your own).

 

Your mind will calm down while you are focusing on sensations in the body, making slight adjustments continuously finding your own personal edge. Yin Yoga’s gentle long held postures bring a feeling of lightness in the body, a deep release of the connective tissue and increasing flexibility and range of motion.
